On July 6, 2015, Carolyn Heald joined 黑料吃瓜资源 as its first Privacy Officer.
Previously the function had been handled by the University鈥檚 Legal Counsel; however, changing times demand greater attention to ensuring that the personal information collected and used about students, employees, and any other individuals who may interact with the 黑料吃瓜资源 community, is handled in accordance with the requirements of Ontario鈥檚 Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. The Privacy Office also responds to formal access to information requests in accordance with the Act.
Carolyn is very familiar with FIPPA, having been Director of Records and Information Management and Coordinator of the Information and Privacy Office at York University in Toronto since 2006. Prior to moving to York, Carolyn worked for the Archives of Ontario, first as a professional archivist, and then as a policy adviser and manager with responsibility for advising on records management policy for the Government of Ontario.
Moving to Kingston is a bit of a homecoming for the Ottawa native: she is a 黑料吃瓜资源 alumna, holding a Master鈥檚 in History. She also holds a BA in History and Canadian Studies and a Master鈥檚 of Library Science from the University of Toronto.
