We’re excited to invite you to join ��ϳԹ��Դ Global Connect (QGC) for a relaxed summer hike at Lemoine Point Conservation Area.

This will be a chance to spend time outdoors, connect with colleagues, and enjoy one of Kingston’s beautiful natural spaces together. Whether you are new to ��ϳԹ��Դ, new to Kingston, or have been part of the community for a while, we hope this will be a welcoming opportunity to connect with others in our QGC community.

Please review the information below before registering:

Family members are welcome to join: As this is an event taking place on a weekend, QGC members are welcome to bring partners, family members, and/or children. Please note that the registered participant is responsible for the members within their party for the duration of the event.

What to wear and bring: Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes, dress for the weather, and bring water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, and any personal items they may need for a comfortable outdoor activity.

Private vehicle use: If you choose to use your personal vehicle to travel to the event or to support informal carpooling, please review ��ϳԹ��Դ information regarding private automobile usage.

Carpooling option: To help make transportation easier, we would like to encourage informal carpooling among participants who are comfortable doing so. For those interested in carpooling, we will meet on the main campus at the electric charging station parking lot at the corner of Union Street and Division Street, beside Mitchell Hall, at 9:30 am. Please indicate in the registration form whether you may need a ride or may be able to offer a seat in your vehicle. Further details about the carpool meeting time will be shared closer to the event.

Important disclaimer and waiver information: This is an optional outdoor activity. All participants will be required to complete the ��ϳԹ��Դ waiver before participating in the hike. Before completing your registration on the link above, please follow the instructions below:

Review the waiver carefully before signing it.
Complete and sign the waiver form.
Upload the signed waiver when completing the registration form.

If you are bringing family members or children, please ensure this is reflected when completing the waiver and registration form.

Participants are responsible for assessing their own comfort and ability to participate in this activity, including walking outdoors on natural trails and uneven terrain. The event may be adjusted, postponed, or cancelled depending on weather or trail conditions. Registrants will be notified of any changes by email.

Join us for a free Intercultural Competency Workshop

In a university community shaped by people, ideas, and experiences from around the world, how we communicate and collaborate across cultures is not optional, it is essential. This interactive session invites you to examine your assumptions, strengthen your cultural awareness, and build practical skills for more inclusive and effective engagement.

Come ready to participate in hands-on activities, reflect on real workplace scenarios, and connect with colleagues from across the university. You will leave with insights and tools you can immediately apply in your day-to-day work, along with a chance to win prizes.

This workshop is offered by Global Connect in partnership with the Department of Professional Studies, Faculty of Education.

As a QGC member, your voice and presence help make these spaces welcoming and meaningful. We encourage you to attend and to share this invitation with post-docs, faculty, staff, and anyone who may benefit.

Meet our presenter

Alison Cummings, MA is The Principal, Diversity Coach, and Trainer at difference matters, with over 20 years of experience in post‑secondary education. She specializes in intercultural communication, diversity, and inclusive learning, helping individuals and groups build self‑awareness and work more effectively across differences. Alison’s approach is grounded in reflective practice, modern intercultural theory, and a deep belief that learning about ourselves is the foundation for understanding others.

��ϳԹ��Դ Global Connect is excited to partner with ��ϳԹ��Դ HR and Thrive 365 to invite you to this session with guest speaker Jenny Corlett, Community Integration Liaison, Office of the Vice-Principal (Culture, Equity, and Inclusion).

Whether you’re new to Kingston or have been here a little while and are still building your network, this session is designed to support international employees in feeling more connected, informed, and at home in our community.

Together, we’ll explore:
• Local resources (immigration, language, healthcare, childcare, eldercare)
• Community programs and networking opportunities
• Cultural events and family-friendly activities
• Practical ways to expand your social and professional connections

Navigating Canadian Permanent Residency programs doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Join us for an in-person information session designed to support ��ϳԹ��Դ staff and faculty who are exploring pathways to Canadian Permanent Residency. Whether you are just beginning your journey or actively planning next steps, this session will provide clarity, practical insights, and trusted guidance.

Queen's Global Connect, in partnership with Queen's Human Resources, is pleased to host an in-person information session on Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) pathways for staff and faculty. The session will be facilitated by Era Macwan (Office of the Provost), who will guide participants through commonly used immigration pathways relevant to employees working in Canada.

The focus will be on building understanding, reducing uncertainty, and helping participants feel more confident as they consider their PR options.

Topics will include:

An overview of key economic immigration pathways, including Express Entry
Ontario Provincial Nominee Program (OINP) streams relevant to skilled workers
General considerations when planning a PR application while working in Canada
Common questions and misconceptions about Permanent Residency pathways

Time will be reserved for questions at the end of the session.

All international employees are invited to attend the official launch of the ��ϳԹ��Դ Global Connect (QGC), a resource group for international employees.

Connect with other international* employees and learn how the QGC hopes to support growth, development opportunities, networking, and and mutual community thriving.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch, so we can all eat together while connecting and launching the QGC.

Limited free coffee and desserts will be provided as a snack. Early registration is encouraged, as spaces are limited.
