Ibrahim Moiz is a historian of modern history in Africa and Asia with a particular focus on the Muslim world and its fringes. Initially attracted to medieval history, he has since studied and written widely on the modern history of these regions, with a particular emphasis on conflict, diplomacy, and comparisons of regimes, institutions, and armed groups. Having worked as a research assistant on Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Syria at the University of Toronto and McMaster University, Ibrahim has published a history book on the Afghan Taliban movement, Emirate and Insurgency, and wrote his Masters' Dissertation on Syrian insurgents during the 2010s war. He has also worked in humanitarian and media organizations.

Ibrahim completed his Bachelors' Degree in Political Science, with minors in History and Near/Middle Eastern Civilizations, from the University of Toronto and his Masters' Degree in Politics and International Relations from SOAS, University of London. His primary research interest at present is to analyze the history of the region from Libya in the west to Pakistan in the east during the period of American international hegemony, including but not limited to the War on Terror. He is especially interested in how American power influenced and was in turn influenced by the political dynamics in this region.
