Heather is an upper-year PhD candidate working under the supervision of Dr. Amitava Chowdhury. Her research interests include the British Empire and Commonwealth in the 20th century, decolonization, nationalism, and global history. Her dissertation focuses on the development of the Commonwealth of Nations and its relationship to decolonization, nation-building, and constitutional development in the former British Empire, particularly Canada, the UK, and the Caribbean.
Heather is a student fellow at the Global History Initiative based at the Queen's University Department of History. In fall 2025, Heather was a Postgraduate Visiting Research Student in the School of Humanities at the University of Glasgow. She also co-organized "Global History: Remapping Categories and Concepts" in 2024 and "Transforming Nations and Identities in a Global World after 1945" in 2025.
She is currently the Information Officer for PSAC Local 901.
Outside of history, Heather enjoys knitting and reading romance novels.
