I am a first-year M.A student working under Dr. Amitava Chowdhury, exploring the formation of the Bengali Diaspora in North America over the 20th century. My work will explore how the sociopolitical changes in colonial and "post-colonial" South Asia over the nineteenth and twentieth centuries impacted the ways Bengalis identified themselves as a diaspora in North America. Broadly speaking, I am interested in exploring how colonization and empire formation have significantly impacted global history over the last two centuries.
