Dr. Amarnath Amarasingam, an Assistant Professor cross appointed with the Department of Political Studies and the School of Religion, speaks with the Toronto Star on Canada attending Trump extremism summit amid concerns over politicization.
鈥淭his kind of strikes most people who follow extremism as an opportunistic, politicized event to target certain kinds of activism, whether it鈥檚 Antifa or you know revolutionary socialist ideas or environmental or animal rights activists, or pro-Palestinian activists, and things like that,鈥 says Dr. Amarasingam, who argued Trump is trying to silence opponents of his political agenda.
Dr. Amarasingam's research interests focuses on the topic of political violence, social movements, hate movements and the far-right.
