Research on understanding the development and early course of mental illness in young people at varying levels of risk has been a topic of interest since my early years of high school. I am deeply motivated to better understand the neurological underpinnings of mental illness as well as the various risk factors involved. This area of research is especially important in today’s context, as mental health conditions are causing significant distress and far-reaching impacts on individuals and communities. Working with U-Flourish as a 4th Life Sciences undergraduate thesis student as well as a part of the student engagement team is a way for me to learn, grow and educate myself and others about their mental health and what may be impacting it! I am thrilled to be a part of this amazing team and cannot wait to see what greatness we all will achieve together.
