Location

Join us for a virtual Powley Day presentation!

Powley Day (September 19th) from 12:00pm – 1:00pm will cover the history of the Powley Case and its continued importance to Métis in Ontario and across the Métis Homeland. The documentary that will be played during this time is called Métis Hunt for Justice: The Powley Story.

Powley Day commemorates the landmark Métis rights victory at the Supreme Court of Canada in R v. Powley, 2003. This historic decision recognized the Métis as a distinct Indigenous people within Canada, paving the way for full Métis self-government. On this day, we honor the entire Powley family and reflect on the profound impact the Powley decision has had on the Métis community. For more information on Powley day, visit: .
