April 25, 2024-As the academic year comes to a close and students prepare to move out for the summer, ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ is committed to promoting sustainable living practices and a circular economy by allowing students to drop off unwanted, donatable items for their peers and for local community members.
The renamed ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ Second-Hand Shuffle – an event organized by the Office of the Off-Campus Living Advisor in Student Affairs, in partnership with AMS, Facilities, and other campus partners, â€“ provides an opportunity for students to donate a wide variety of household items, including furniture, small appliances, kitchenware, electronics, clothing, office supplies, linens, and non-perishable food items. 
Several non-profit organizations in the Kingston community including Habitat for Humanity, the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Elizabeth Fry Kingston will be on site gathering items, while others will submit a ‘wish list’ to have items set aside. Donations are then free for other students, staff or community members to take, making this an impactful event for the entire community.
The Second-hand Shuffle takes place April 28, 29, and 30 in the parking lot of the Rideau Building, 207 Stuart Street.

Note: Only students are able to drop off items. Community members are welcome to take what they need.

Fun Facts:
During this three-day event in 2023, a total of 4,818 items were collected, with a weight of approximately 19,600 kilograms.
The value of the donated items, based on current market prices, was around $190,000.
During the three-day event, 46.62 tons of CO2 emissions were successfully averted.
