ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´

The ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ community is remembering Samuel Lowe, an undergraduate student studying Environmental Studies, who passed away on Sept. 8 at the age of 24.

Samuel began his studies at ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ in fall 2021 and was completing a Bachelor of Arts. He received the Loran Award and was named a Chernoff Scholar that year.

An active student leader, Samuel was involved with the ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ Black Clubs Caucus and ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ Black Academic Society and was a co-founder of the Black Undergraduate Coalition. In March 2026, the coalition brought together students from universities across Canada for its second convention.

The flag on campus will be lowered to half-mast in honour of Samuel on Sept. 25, 2026. Support has been coordinated for ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ community members affected by Samuel’s loss.
