There has been an overwhelming response to the Call for Papers for the reflective practice stream at the Australasian Law Academics Conference hosted at the University of Melbourne this year. Approximately 50 presenters will be presenting papers or engaging in panels and roundtables to discuss reflective practice as a professional metacompetency for law. To do the topic justice, the full conference program available on the conference鈥檚 website needs to be reviewed. Just a few of the themes include reflective practice and creativity; reflective practice as supportive of professional identity formation; foundational for the development of an ethical comportment; responsive to GenAI challenges; essential for creating relational competencies, trauma-informed lawyers, workplace leaders, and decolonizing legal education. Doubts about the applicability and efficacy of reflective practice for law teachers, law students, and legal professionals will be dispelled by the conference discussions and current legal education research initiatives. Opening conference keynotes will be delivered by Michele Leering (virtual) and Judith McNamara. There will be so much wisdom and professional teaching knowledge to be absorbed at this in-person event.
