ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´

Across the ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ community, a great deal of research, teaching, learning, community engagement, and stewardship activities are directly related to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Increasing awareness of these relationships and coordinating and enhancing the work is a priority for the university. Like the ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ Strategy, UN SDGs call on us to harness our sense of social responsibility, address significant and urgent real-world challenges, and advance our social impact.  

As part of ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ commitment to removing disability-related barriers and supporting student success, the university is commencing an external review of academic accommodations and related procedures this spring.

ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊԴ’s Schulich Leaders recently met with Principal and Vice-Chancellor Patrick Deane and Vice-Principal (Advancement) Karen Bertrand to share their experiences and reconnect with their fellow scholarship recipients.

Two teams and six individual staff members are being celebrated for their excellent work and accomplishments at ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´.

The 2022 Special Recognition for Staff Awards recognize staff, nominated by colleagues, who have gone above and beyond their day-to-day activities to have a lasting positive impact.

Award recipients and their guests are invited to a private reception in late April.

ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´, in collaboration with its community partners on and off campus, is taking action to encourage students to focus on well-being, respect, and responsibility, while also preparing to enforce bylaws and the university’s Student Code of Conduct to ensure students don’t put themselves or others at risk over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

Post-secondary institutions across the country are coming together from March 6-10 to mark the first SDG Week Canada. This national collaboration is organized by the , , and , of which ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ is a member.

Germany’s ambassador to Canada visited campus recently, joining ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ leaders, researchers, and students in wide-ranging discussions on international collaborations, research and funding, and knowledge sharing.

ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ is launching an online call for feedback on the draft Global Engagement Strategic Plan. Created to support the ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ Strategy,  the plan outlines six objectives to deepen the university’s global impact and ability to help shape a more just, equitable and sustainable society.

With the winter term underway, new teaching and learning initiatives are advancing goals emphasized in the ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ Strategy. By integrating research with student learning, and engaging the community in transformative educational experiences, teaching and learning for impact has become a vital part of ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´.

When ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ signed the Scarborough Charter on Anti-Black Racism and Black Inclusion in Canadian Higher Education and committed to more meaningful, concrete actions to address anti-Black racism and to promote Black inclusion, the university devoted itself to a comprehensive and ongoing plan for transformation.
