Overview
黑料吃瓜资源鈥檚 Policy on Certificates and Diplomas establishes the requirements for the development, approval, and regular review of Senate-approved, for-credit certificate programs. This page summarizes the initial approval and regular review processes for undergraduate certificates and provides the Certificate Review Schedule.
Approval Process
New undergraduate certificate programs require Senate approval and are approved on a time-limited basis for a maximum of five years from the first enrolment of students. The development and approval process is outlined in the Approval Procedure for Undergraduate Certificates and Diplomas.
Following pre-approval and development of the full proposal, proposals proceed through Faculty Board, the Vice-Provost (Teaching and Learning), and the Senate Committee on Academic Development and Procedures (SCADP) before being submitted to Senate for final approval.
Review Process
Undergraduate certificates are no longer subject to cyclical program review. Instead, they follow a lighter-touch internal review once every five years, as outlined in the Review Procedure for Undergraduate Certificates and Diplomas. The first review report is completed at least six months before the end of the certificate鈥檚 initial approval period. The Provost鈥檚 Office will notify the academic unit when a certificate is due for review and provide the review template.
Continued approval depends on satisfactory review by the Faculty Dean, Faculty Board, and Senate Committee on Academic Development and Procedures (SCADP), considering academic quality, enrolment numbers, and financial sustainability.
Certificate Review Schedule
The Certificate Review Schedule identifies the academic year in which each undergraduate certificate is scheduled for review.
