Adrianne Kamerman

M.Sc. Student

Adrianne completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Queen's in 2025 and is now in the second year of her M.Sc. in the QMPL. Adrianne's thesis is exploring how behaviour change theory-informed coaching may influence adherence to prehabilitation for patients with ovarian masses undergoing cytoreductive surgery.

Josh Aube

Josh Aube Headshot

Josh Aube

Ph.D. Student

Originally from Mississauga Ontario, Josh completed his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at Wilfrid Laurier University and Master鈥檚 in the QMPL. He is currently a PhD student in the QMPL studying exercise before surgery as 鈥減rehabilitation鈥.

Laura Nixon

Headshot of Laura Nixon

Laura Nixon

M.Sc. Student

Laura completed her BScH in Kinesiology at Queen's University with the Class of 2025. With a long and diverse background in athletics, she was particularly drawn to applied exercise physiology, exploring research in the Human Vascular Control Lab throughout her undergraduate years. Laura is now a Master of Science student in the Muscle Physiology Lab, where her primary research focus is clinical Prehabilitation for surgical oncology patients. She is currently evaluating the feasibility of a multimodal Prehab program combining high dose exercise, nutritional support, and mindfulness rooted in a behaviour-change coaching framework, contributing to the growing evidence base for Prehab to improve surgical outcomes. Outside of academics, Laura continues to feed her interest in exercise and behaviour change support as a personal and small group trainer, working with adults across a wide range of ages and exercise backgrounds. Having dabbled in nearly every sport growing up, she now trains for general strength, functionality, (fun!), and long-term quality of life.

Justin Bureau

Justin Bureau

Justin Bureau

M.Sc. Student

Justin is a first year M.Sc. student from Oakville, Ontario. He earned his B.Sc. in Kinesiology here at 黑料吃瓜资源, where he discovered a passion for mitochondrial and skeletal muscle health while volunteering for the Nutrition and Metabolism Research Group. His research aims to asses the effect of eicosapentaenoic acid supplementation on human skeletal muscle health and mitochondrial respiratory function. When he is not in the lab, Justin enjoys exploring the outdoors, and engaging in many sports.

Callum Pufahl

Callum Pufahl

Callum Pufahl

M.Sc. Student

Callum is a first year M.Sc. student from Wolfville, Nova Scotia. He is interested in the effect of nutritional interventions in combination with either resistance or endurance exercise training on skeletal muscle health, which is the focus of his research. Callum has previously studied the relationship of resistance exercise and increased fall risk in older adults. Outside of the lab and research, Callum can be found at the gym or hiking.

Sydney Smart

Sydney Smart

Sydney Smart

M.Sc. Student

Sydney is a second year M.Sc. student from Renfrew, Ontario. Sydney completed her B.Sc. in biomedical science at the University of Guelph. Sydney鈥檚 M.Sc. research is centred on the effects of  high dose EPA supplementation on skeletal muscle health. Sydney鈥檚 interest in exercise science comes from a lifelong love of biology and her passion for sports, specifically hockey and soccer.

Kristine Boileau

M.Sc Student

Kristine is a second year M.Ss student with the Nutrition and Metabolism Research Group. She completed her B.Sc. with a specialization in human kinetics from the University of Ottawa and a B.Ed. from the University of Windsor. Her research interests include examining the best practices to optimize training for athletic performance. Outside of school, she enjoys playing sports, the outdoors, and spending time with her friends and family.

Emily Ferguson

 Emily Ferguson

Emily Ferguson

Ph.D. Candidate

Emily is a Ph.D. student from Waterloo, Ontario. She is interested in skeletal muscle metabolism and mitochondrial physiology. Emily鈥檚 research is focused on generating nutritional strategies to mitigate declines in skeletal muscle disuse. Emily is also interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms governing alterations in skeletal muscle health in response to skeletal muscle disuse.

Dani Nyman

 Dani Nyman

Dani Nyman

Ph.D. Candidate

Dani is third year Ph.D. candidate from Guelph, Ontario. She is interested in human performance, and her research is focused on the intersection of nutrition and exercise training. Dani loves ice hockey and has worked as a hydration and nutrition consultant to 9 different NHL teams. When she is not in the lab or at the rink, she can be found lifting or coaching at the Gaels鈥 High Performance Centre

Jonathan McLeod

Postdoc. Fellow

Dr. Jonathan Mcleod is a Postdoctoral Fellow who completed his Ph.D. at McMaster University. Jonathan鈥檚 primary research interest is in using stable isotope tracers to study human skeletal muscle protein metabolism. Jonathan also has a keen interest in leveraging 鈥渙mics鈥 technology to identify novel molecular candidates pertinent to skeletal muscle plasticity. Outside of the lab, Jonathan can be found playing hockey, swimming, biking, and/or running.
