Jonathan McLeod

Postdoc. Fellow

Dr. Jonathan Mcleod is a Postdoctoral Fellow who completed his Ph.D. at McMaster University. Jonathan鈥檚 primary research interest is in using stable isotope tracers to study human skeletal muscle protein metabolism. Jonathan also has a keen interest in leveraging 鈥渙mics鈥 technology to identify novel molecular candidates pertinent to skeletal muscle plasticity. Outside of the lab, Jonathan can be found playing hockey, swimming, biking, and/or running.

Tanner Stokes

Postdoc. Fellow

Dr. Tanner Stokes is a part-time Postdoctoral Fellow. He completed his Ph.D. in Kinesiology at McMaster University, which focused on the mechanisms of skeletal muscle hypertrophy and atrophy in response to resistance training and muscle disuse, respectively. His research interests include the application of stable isotope tracer methodology and high-throughput genome-wide 鈥榦mics鈥 technology to gain a better understanding of how muscle size is regulated under different physiological conditions.

Queen's Arts and Science

The aim of my research program is to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms underpinning the adaptive response of skeletal muscle to nutrition, exercise training, and immobilization. I specialize in the use of stable isotopic tracers to track skeletal muscle protein turnover combined with a variety of molecular biology techniques for measurement of enzyme activity, protein expression, and post-translational modification.

Andres Moran-Macdonald

M.Sc. Student

Andres is a first year M.Sc. student, raised in Kingston, ON. He graduated with a Biochemistry degree from 黑料吃瓜资源, and found his interests lie more in muscle physiology and the exercise lab. He is interested in the biochemical adaptation differences athletes have to non-athletes in response to exercise and nutrition. In addition to school, Andres is an avid triathlete, an amateur sourdough baker, and a singer at the Catholic cathedral in Kingston.
