Before voting

The Voter Information Letter

Everyone on the Voters' List gets a Voter Information Letter. Your letter tells you where and when to vote, and gives you a voter ID number for online voting. It also lists early voting days and Election Day details.  

Bring your Voter Information Letter with you to vote and a piece of ID - it helps things go faster.

If you don't have a Voter Information Letter, please bring one of the acceptable voter identification documents.

Common Examples of Acceptable IDs:

• Ontario Driver's Licence
• Ontario Health Card (photo card)
• Ontario Photo Card 

Voting locations

For in-person voting, you must vote at a specific location in your district, check the map below to find your district or visit the on City of Kingston website to find your district.  

Advanced Voting Locations

Advance voting will be held on Friday, Oct. 16, and Saturday, Oct. 17 and will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Kingston Transit and Kingston Access Bus will be free and will have stops at all voting locations.

• District 6 – Trillium: Isabel Turner Library, 935 Gardiners Rd.
• District 7 – Meadowbrook-Strathcona: Crossroads United Church, 690 Sir John A. Macdonald Blvd.
• District 8 – Kingscourt-Rideau: Rideau Heights Community Centre, 85 MacCauley St. 
• District 9 – Williamsville: Calvin Park Library, 88 Wright Cres.
• District 10 – Sydenham: Central Library, 130 Johnson St.

Online Voting

The online voting period opens Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. and closes on voting day, Monday, Oct. 26, at 8 p.m. To complete the online voting process, voters will follow a two-step verification process via email or text message.

Online voting is secure and confidential. The voting system includes a two-factor authentication process to protect your information and privacy.  

To vote online, you must receive a voter information letter (VIL). All Kingston residents on the voters' list as of mid-September should receive a VIL. The VIL contains your voter information number and steps to complete the online voting process, including the website address. 

Online Voting Assistance

For assistance with online voting, contact City of Kingston Customer Service at 613-546-0000. Staff will assist in the following situations:

• Problems with the authentication process
• Confirming if your information has been entered correctly
• Confirming if your vote has been successfully counted 

Accessible Voting

All voting locations on Advance Voting Day and Voting Day have accessible voting equipment. This lets you vote privately and on your own.

These features include a touch screen, keypad buttons with Braille and printed labels, and an audio option. With these, you can mark the same type of ballot as everyone else.
