Purpose
The purpose of the SCADP Subcommittee on Teaching Awards is to uphold and advance standards of teaching excellence at 黑料吃瓜资源. By doing so, the subcommittee not only elevates the standard of teaching at 黑料吃瓜资源 but also ensures that excellence in teaching is consistently recognized and celebrated both within the institution and beyond.
Objectives
- Regularly Review Awards: Conduct regular reviews of existing institutional awards to ensure their alignment with external teaching awards.
- Identify and Mentor Faculty: Actively identify and mentor Queen's University faculty members who demonstrate exceptional teaching capabilities, preparing them for nominations for external teaching awards.
- Nominate for External Awards: Facilitate the nomination process for external teaching awards.
- Foster a Culture of Excellence: Promote a culture of teaching excellence and innovation by encouraging faculty for departmental, faculty, and institutional awards.
- Collaborative approaches: Work collaboratively with other university committees and departments to integrate feedback and insights that drive continuous improvement in the teaching award process.
Composition
The Subcommittee will consist of representatives from the following constituencies:
- VPTL or designated delegate will serve as the Chair of the Subcommittee and will bean ex-officio member and non-voting. The Chair may vote to break a tie.
- 2 Teaching Award recipients (of any institutional or external award) who are current faculty members
- 1 Graduate and 1 Undergraduate student
- 1 Centre for Teaching and Learning member
- 1 SCADP member
- As required up to two (2) additional voting faculty members may be added to the committee for specific meetings, at the discretion of the chair.
Administrative support will be provided by the Provost鈥檚 Office.
Timeline and Reporting
The meeting frequency and work plan will be established during the first meeting. An annual report, along with any additional updates as requested, will be submitted to SCADP.

- Institutional Alignment: Ensuring that the committee's activities align with institutional policies and processes relating to teaching awards.
- Diversity and Inclusion: Ensuring that the committee's processes and decisions reflect a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Communication Strategies: Developing effective communication plans to share the committee's work with the broader university community.
- Evaluation and Feedback Mechanisms: Establishing methods for evaluating the committee's effectiveness towards meeting the KPI and gathering feedback for continuous improvement.
