    GW Stephen Brodsky

    Summer 2026

    After returning from UN duty on Cyprus in 1964, Steve was accepted by Queen's as a mature student on probationary sufferance. All the rest is readily available online: an MA in Renaissance Literature and Drama from the University of Victoria, and D.Phil at the University of York (U.K.). In May 2026 Steve received the D.Litt., "honouring your substantial and original contributions to knowledge." Vanitas vanitatis. He is grateful to Queen's for taking a chance on a career Canadian Infantry soldier with an unpromising past.

    Shaun Keith Frape

    – Sc'72, MSc'74, PhD'79

    Summer 2026

    After 45 years as a professor at the University of Waterloo, the numerous graduate students Shaun mentored during that time have raised the funds to create the Professor Shaun Frape Perseverance Award in Earth Sciences. The award is for a first-year student in Earth Science who has overcome personal challenges in order to attend university.

    Daniel McConnachie

    – Mus’76, Ed’80

    Summer 2026

    Daniel is pleased to announce that four of his compositions for bassoon have been added to the updated Bassoon Syllabus 2025 at The Royal Conservatory of Music. Two of the works are for solo bassoon, while the other two are for bassoon with piano accompaniment. As part of that update, the four works in question have also been published by Trevco Music.

    After a 30-year career as a head of music in York Region, Daniel and his wife, Martha (Mus'76), retired to Kingston in 2013. Unfortunately, she passed away in 2025. 

    Daniel has a very busy life in Kingston, composing music for other community ensembles and chamber groups there and in Toronto. He’s also actively playing the bassoon in Orchestra Kingston and in a bassoon quartet.

    David Fremantle

    David received his 50-year membership pin from Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA). David is also a recognized CPA in Illinois.

    Anna Richards-Velinou

    From creating memorable experiences for clients across leading industries, to mentoring junior staff and growing her career at a complex firm, Anna is honoured to share that after nine years at PwC Canada, she's been nominated by the Women's Executive Network (WXN) for Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards under the AMEX Emerging Leaders Award category. She's deeply grateful to the many leaders, teammates, collaborators, and colleagues-turned-friends who advocated for her, challenged her, and opened doors along the way, helping her grow into the leader she's becoming.

    Jennifer Murphy

    – Artsc’03, Ed’04 

    Summer 2026

    Jennifer completed a Master of Design in Strategic Foresight and Innovation at OCAD University in June 2025, receiving the President’s Medal as the top graduating student in the program. Her graduate research explored the future of Ontario’s public universities and the leadership, governance, and institutional shifts needed to navigate an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world. 

    Jennifer is director of National Program Initiatives at Shad Canada, where she leads national initiatives that help young people build the mindsets, skills, and confidence to shape the future through innovation, entrepreneurship, and future focused learning.
