Bell Media President Mary Ann Turcke, Sc’88, MBA’97, is this year’s recipient of the Toronto Branch Award.
Mary Ann’s tricolour connections go beyond her two degrees at ϳԹԴ. Her father, David Turcke, was the ϳԹԴ Civil Engineering Department Head for 10 years, so she grew up on campus. Her brother and husband are ϳԹԴ grads and her daughter is currently a student. Mary Ann earned her undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering at ϳԹԴ in 1988.
In June of 2014, she gave a speech at Convocation and talked about how her education at ϳԹԴ had a profound impact on her. “My ϳԹԴ MBA changed my life. It put me on a path that I honestly never dreamed of. I am forever grateful,” Mary Ann told the crowd.
She is also a dedicated ϳԹԴ volunteer, including sitting on the School of Business Advisory Board to serving on the MBA’97 Giving Committee and the Engineering Campaign Cabinet as part of the Initiative Campaign.
“Mary Anne has a very busy and successful career, yet she has always found time to give back to her alma mater and always proudly displays her tricolour spirit,” says Toronto Alumni Branch president Theresa Wetzel, Artsci’07.
The Toronto Branch Award is presented to Toronto-area alumni who have distinguished themselves in their careers, in their volunteer work, in the arts, or in other ways they have contributed to society. Past recipients include the ϳԹԴ Bands, Chancellor Jim Leech, MBA’73, and Blue Rodeo singer Jim Cuddy, Artsci’83.
The Toronto Branch Award Dinner will take place on Nov. 25. Online registration will be available on the Alumni Events Calendar.
