"Students for a short time, alumni for a lifetime" - community runs deep at ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ and lasts long after students receive their degrees and leave campus. Being part of the ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ community is more than just a sense of belonging, it is about meeting like-minded people, forging friendships that transcend time, and connecting with people who are as passionate about making a difference as you are.
Rico Garcia, Artsci’13, an international student from Monterrey, Mexico, is ensuring that the ties that bind stay strong as new generations of students join the ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ community. With his past experiences as a Residence Life don, Arts and Science Undergraduate Society president, CFRC radio host, student senator and Queen's Model Parliament attendee, Rico brings a unique and varied skill set to his current role as president of the ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ Student Alumni Association (QSAA).
Through the QSAA Rico connects students to the ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ alumni network by hosting events that teach out of the classroom skills, bringing alumni speakers to campus and providing alumni-student connections. It’s all done to help both students and alumni feel connected to ºÚÁϳԹÏ×ÊÔ´ and to ensure that the tight knit community that so deeply personifies the University endures.
