PhD candidate Hannah Walsh has co-authored a new peer-reviewed article titled 鈥溾楽top the Spread鈥: Criminalizing Physical Recreation During the COVID-19 Pandemic鈥 in the journal Critical Criminology, exploring how public health measures intersected with legal responses to everyday activities during COVID-19.

During his fellowship, Dr. Abay will develop a new research project on Intersectional Disability Justice (IDJ), an innovative framework that examines how colonial systems of oppression shape experiences of disability, race, gender, and forced migration.

Dr. Robel Abay is a Professor of Disability Studies at . Previously, he has worked as a research associate at the Institute of Sociology at Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich, Germany. He holds a PhD from Humboldt University of Berlin on intersectional colonialities of . During his fellowship at Queen's University as a Visiting Professor of Sociology, he will work on his new research project on Intersectional Disability Justice (IDJ). His research and teaching interests include: Sociology of Disability; Technoableism; Decolonial Theories; Intersectional Disability Justice; Sociology of Race & Ethnic Relations; Crip Technoscience; Disability Studies & Critical Race Theory (DisCrit); Queer Migration; Climate & Social Justice; Gender & Queer Studies; Participatory Research.
