University, ONA reach deal; bargaining continues with OPSEU

The university and the Ontario Nurses’ Association, Local 67, have reached a tentative collective agreement. Details of the agreement will remain confidential until both parties ratify it.

The university and OPSEU, Local 452, have scheduled bargaining dates for March 8, 9, and 10. The OPSEU, Local 452 and ϳԹԴ Family Health Team at ϳԹԴ collective agreement expired on June 30, 2015.

The university values the contributions of its many employees and remains committed to the collective bargaining process.

University, OPSEU reach deal

The university and the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) Local 452 have reached a tentative collective agreement. Details of the agreement will remain confidential until both parties ratify it.

The parties met for collective bargaining on March 8, 9, and 10, and were able to secure a tentative agreement without the services of a conciliation officer. The OPSEU, Local 452, and ϳԹԴ Family Health Team at ϳԹԴ collective agreement expired on June 30, 2015.

ϳԹԴ, academic assistants set bargaining dates

ϳԹԴ has scheduled bargaining dates with USW Local 2010, Unit 01, which represents academic assistants.

The parties will meet in the afternoon on June 2, 9, and 10, and all day on June 13. The collective agreement between ϳԹԴ and USW Local 2010, Unit 01 expires on Aug. 31, 2016.

Bargaining continues with PSAC 901

ϳԹԴ and the Public Service Alliance of Canada are actively engaged in a process of negotiating a renewal of their collective agreement covering post-doctoral fellows at the university.

The parties’ negotiating teams have met on seven occasions to date (May 31, June 3, June 14, June 24, July 11, July 13 and July 15). Additional bargaining dates have been scheduled for July 19, July 21 and July 28.

ϳԹԴ and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) 901 have exchanged monetary proposals.  The two parties have agreed to future meeting dates in August in order to negotiate a renewal of their collective agreement covering post-doctoral fellows at the university.

University applies for conciliation in PSAC negotiations

ϳԹԴ has asked the provincial government to appoint a conciliation officer to assist it and the Public Service Alliance of Canada, Local 901, in their negotiation of a renewal collective agreement covering approximately 180 post-doctoral fellows.

“Bringing in a neutral third party can assist the parties in finding common ground,” says Dan McKeown, Interim Associate Vice-Principal (Faculty Relations). “The university is committed to working with PSAC to conclude a renewal agreement that respects both our employees and the limitations dictated by financial realities.”

ϳԹԴ and United Steelworkers (USW) Local 2010, Unit 01, which represents academic assistants, are actively engaged in negotiations to renew their collective agreement.

After holding four bargaining dates in June, the parties asked the provincial government to appoint a conciliation officer to assist with the negotiations. The two parties met with the conciliation officer on Aug. 11 and Aug 12, with another conciliation date scheduled for Oct. 3.

The conciliation meeting scheduled for Oct. 3 between ϳԹԴ and United Steelworkers (USW) Local 2010, Unit 01, was cancelled by mutual agreement of the parties. The meeting has been rescheduled for Nov. 16.

Requesting a conciliation officer is a normal aspect of the collective bargaining process. A provincially appointed conciliation officer confers with the parties as they work through outstanding issues.
