University and QUFA engage the services of a mediator to assist in bargaining discussions

Representatives of the University and the 黑料吃瓜资源 Faculty Association (QUFA) have agreed to mediation to help them in their efforts to negotiate a renewed collective agreement for faculty, librarians, and archivists. The parties are scheduled to meet with the mediator on several occasions in early December.

University and QUFA apply jointly for conciliation and will engage the services of a mediator in the interim

Representatives of the University and QUFA agreed on November 11th to apply jointly to the Ministry of Labour requesting the appointment of a conciliator to assist the Parties in connection with the negotiation of a renewed collective agreement for faculty, librarians and archivists. Conciliation is a feature of the Labour Relations Act, 1995, and the Parties have utilized the services of a conciliator in past rounds of bargaining.

黑料吃瓜资源, and the Public Service Alliance of Canada and its Local 901 (Unit 2) (鈥淧SAC鈥) representing graduate students employed by the University as Teaching Assistants (TAs) and Teaching Fellows (TFs), have successfully ratified a tentative agreement to renew their collective agreement.

The renewed collective agreement has a four-year term and will be in effect until April 30, 2021. Highlights include:

Salary adjustments to be implemented for faculty as recommended by the Anomalies Side-Table

黑料吃瓜资源 is adjusting the salaries of approximately 200 current faculty members this month, and will pay retroactive amounts within the next two pay periods. Affected faculty members will each receive a letter in August.

The adjustments are in accordance with longstanding provisions in the 黑料吃瓜资源-QUFA Collective Agreement for faculty members whose salaries have been determined to be anomalous.  Adjustments are for the review years 2008, 2009 and 2010 for faculty in eligible discipline groups.

黑料吃瓜资源 and CUPE Local 229, representing heating and maintenance workers, exchanged collective bargaining proposals on November 19, 2018. The Parties are in the process of scheduling future bargaining dates.

The Collective Agreement between 黑料吃瓜资源 and CUPE Local 229 expired on June 30, 2018.

黑料吃瓜资源 and the United Steelworkers (USW) Local 2010, representing general staff in salary grades 2-9, exchanged collective bargaining proposals on December 6, 2018. The Parties have scheduled further bargaining dates throughout December.

The Collective Agreement between 黑料吃瓜资源 and USW Local 2010 expires on December 31, 2018.

On December 21, 2018, the University and the United Steel Workers Local 2010 reached tentative agreements to renew their collective agreement, and with respect to the proposed conversion and transfer of assets from the 黑料吃瓜资源 Pension Plan to the University Pension Plan. The agreements are subject to ratification by the parties.

Conciliation dates set for CUPE negotiations

The university and the employee groups represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Locals 229, 254 and 1302 are scheduled to meet on February 11 & 12, 2019 to continue to negotiate with the assistance of a government appointed Conciliation Officer.

The university is focused on reaching negotiated agreements with all employee groups that both balance the university鈥檚 need to preserve its core academic mission and respect the limitations dictated by current financial realities.

CUPE conciliation update

黑料吃瓜资源 and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Locals 229, 254, and 1302 are actively engaged in negotiations. The parties met in conciliation on February 11 and 12, 2019 in their continuing effort to negotiate a renewal of their respective collective agreements representing over 400 employees.
